As CIO at Extreme Networks, John Abel is responsible for all aspects of the global IT organization. He has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry leading large teams and driving results for global Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Extreme in 2021, John served as Senior Vice President and CIO at Veritas, where he drove significant improvements in the IT landscape and team that enabled the company to exceed its financial goals, achieve higher renewal rates, and improve employee retention over a three-year period. Prior to Veritas, John was SVP and CIO for Ellie Mae where he built a strategy around automating, scaling, and securing the enterprise backed by the cloud. Previously, John served as SVP of IT at Hitachi Data Systems, and before that was VP of Information Technology at Symantec Corporation where he led the integration of applications following its merger with Veritas in 2005. Ahead of Symantec, John worked at JDS Uniphase and started his career at KPMG Consulting. John is a graduate of Staffordshire University in the UK where he received a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems.

Rohan Abey is the Director of Training and Partner Enablement at Extreme Networks. Rohan’s team is driving innovative, modern and scalable ways to educate Extreme’s global community of customers, partners and employees.

Carolina Bessega is an Innovation Lead at the Office of the CTO for Extreme Networks. She combines a strategic mindset alongside 22+ years of experience in science and technology. Her focus is on bridging the gap between new technologies and industry. She has built a reputation for being an applied machine learning leader in Canada. Highly experienced in architecting and implementing end-to-end machine learning systems.

After obtaining her Ph.D. in Fundamental Physics, specifically astrophysics, she became a university professor and the director of the Non-Linear Phenomena lab in the Physics Department at the largest university in Venezuela. Her research in Econophysics and complex systems was the starting point for her Applied Machine Learning career.

In 2010, Carolina immigrated to Canada and pivoted her career from the academy to the software industry. Since then, she has worked in technology, providing services and creating AI products and solutions for different industries. Carolina is an active member of the Canadian AI ecosystem, a mentor at several Startup Accelerators, and a Vector Institute Program Recognition Committee member. She has also collaborated with the Government of Canada’s Advisory Council of Artificial intelligence as a member of the AI commercialization Working Group.

Carolina loves travelling, public speaking, science fiction and puzzles. She is a big Star Trek fan and gets most of her leadership inspiration from the Capitan Kirk.

Brendan Bonner is a member of the OCTO team. He is a telecoms industry veteran with 25 years at the cutting edge of innovation in mobile & fixed networks, ensuring technology and the opportunities it presents stay relevant in public and private spheres, and the future we are building together.

Over his career, he has worked on telecoms standards from 2G to 5G, cloud computing and X-vertical business transformation and will continue to focus on initiatives to make technology more efficient, secure, and future proofed for Industry, Governments and Society.

Prior to joining the OCTO, Brendan was chief technologist for the Irish government’s inward investment agency, and worked with almost all the top global ICT and cloud leaders on transformation and research opportunities. A regular speaker on AI, Communications and Emerging Technologies, he has also acted as lead advisor on National AI and Quantum Technology Strategies and board member of the National Digital Innovation Fund as well as the cofounding chair of Blockchain Ireland.

A proud engineer at heart, Brendan recently completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and advocates for lifetime learning and diversity in continuous training, and is willing to discuss music, science fiction, politics, history and of course - technology.

Hock Leong Choo is Senior Director, Go-to-Market for Asia Pacific at Extreme Networks. With more than two decades of experience in channel leadership, sales, marketing, and partner ecosystem development, he leads APAC go-to-market strategy and partner programs that help drive growth, enable partners, and accelerate customer success across the region.

David D. Coleman is the Director of Wireless Networking at the Office of the CTO for Extreme Networks. David is a technology evangelist, public speaker and proficient author. David travels the world for both customer and channel partner engagements, speaking events and training sessions. He has instructed IT professionals from around the globe in Wi-Fi design, security, administration, and troubleshooting. David has written multiple books, blogs, and white papers about wireless networking, and he is considered an authority on 802.11 technology. Prior to working at Extreme, he specialized in corporate and government Wi-Fi training and consulting. In the past, he has provided Wi-Fi consulting for numerous private corporations, the US military, and other federal and state government agencies. David is also the 2020 recipient of the Wi-Fi Lifetime Achievement Award. When he is not traveling, David resides in Atlanta, Georgia and Chapala, Mexico. David is CWNE #4 and is the co-author of Sybex Publishing’s “Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) Study Guide” – 6th Edition”

Jason Collins serves as the Senior Resident Engineer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky at Extreme Networks, where he combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.

Jason is the Chair of the Abilities Alliance ERG, where he leads company-wide initiatives focused on accessibility, disability inclusion, and workplace belonging. His efforts have helped elevate the voices of employees with diverse abilities and champion a more inclusive culture across the organization. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, Jason ensures that inclusion is not just a value—it’s a daily practice.

In his engineering role, Jason supports critical networking and cybersecurity infrastructure for public sector organizations, drawing from decades of experience supporting companies globally. He holds certifications across multiple cybersecurity platforms and is a proud member of InfraGard, a public-private partnership with the FBI focused on securing critical infrastructure, which he joined in 2008.

A passionate communicator, Jason regularly writes LinkedIn articles on emerging security issues, offering insights to help businesses stay informed and resilient. His writing blends practical expertise with a storyteller’s touch, making complex topics accessible to broad audiences.

Outside of Extreme, Jason is deeply rooted in his hometown of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, where he lives with his wife of 27 years and their daughter. He also serves as Chairman of the Board for Anderson County Schools and Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Lawrenceburg, demonstrating his commitment to leadership, safety, and community development.

Whether he’s mentoring a team, responding to emergencies, or advocating for inclusion, Jason brings integrity, purpose, and passion to every role he serves.

Demetrius leads our employee resource group for Black and African American employees – Black@Extreme (BEX), in addition to his role on the business development team. Demetrius has over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, many of which were spent in global roles. Outside of work, Demetrius resides in Austin, Texas, with his family, where he devotes time to mentoring youth in the community. Demetrius is an avid music enthusiast, world traveler, and sports fan.

Bella is a Marketing Communication Specialist on Extreme's corporate marketing team. She graduated with her degree in marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Blair Donald is a public relations expert responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and reporting regarding Extreme’s PR activities in the US. She drives cross-functional and highly visible initiatives with a focus on thought leadership, brand awareness, and increasing earned features & mentions. Blair previously held roles at several PR agencies in the Boston area, working primarily with B2B technology companies including Panasonic and Huawei. She has a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Kent State University in Ohio.

Anu Gade is a Senior Director of Product Management at Extreme Networks focused on Enterprise Switching & ExtremeCloud IQ (SaaS Cloud offer for managing Extreme Wired/Wireless/SD-WAN portfolio). She is a Portfolio Architect responsible for defining strategy for Extreme Switching.

Anu has her Master’s Degree in Computer Science and holds a patent from the U.S Patents and Trademark Office in Wired & Wireless networking. Outside of work, Anu enjoys the outdoors & spending time with family.

As the Manager of Vertical Marketing Solutions at Extreme Networks, Ryan T. Hall helps drive strategy and programs for vertical markets at Extreme Networks, with a direct focus on Sports & Public Venues, Retail, Hospitality, and Transportation & Logistics. Ryan has over five years of B2B IT marketing experience, and holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New Hampshire.

Curtis Hamilton is an IT professional focused on business processes and operations. He is a graduate of NC State University, degreed in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. His career started in sales and marketing before he made the switch to operational roles.

Employed at Extreme Networks as Director of Global Business Systems, he and his team are responsible for supporting CPQ tools for the sales organization. The Business Operations organization focuses on day-to-day support and leading transformational business projects for sales.

Curtis serves as Chair of Black @ Extreme (BEX), the Black Employee Resource Group focused on African American/Black employees and champions. BEX facilitates workplace diversity by embracing cultural differences that foster inclusion and promote awareness of perspectives that enable more intelligent decision making to drive better business outcomes at Extreme Networks.

Curtis is also active in Extreme’s corporate sponsored mentoring program. He serves as mentor for various employees across race/gender/generational lines to assist with their professional growth. 

Jan studied at the Leeds Metropolitan University and Hochschule Bremen from 1991 to 1995 to earn his BA in European Finance and Accounting.

This was followed by a year at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg – where Jan studied company organizational and personnel development.

After working a couple of years for a Human Resource consulting company, Jan joined Cabletron Systems in 1998 and was responsible for Service Sales in Germany. 

Since then, Jan has worked in several service sales and internal sales management functions during his time at Enterasys and Extreme. Jan is currently VP of EMEA Services Sales at Extreme Networks and is based out of Germany. Jan and his team are responsible for successfully driving the Service Maintenance, Professional Services, and Subscription Renewal Business in the region.  

Mikael Holmberg is a Distinguished Engineer at Extreme Networks - he was the first person in company history to earn that title! When he started at Extreme Networks 20 years ago, the company had no presence in Finland so he worked with a team to develop the Extreme sales office for that region.

Since then, Mikael has continued to grow with Extreme and has taken on lots of different projects that have helped Extreme continue to advance.

Jonathan is a marketing and sales leader with a proven track record of driving global growth and net new business. His background consists of successfully growing resellers and distributors in the networking industry. Jonathan leads our Americas Distribution and Digital Sales Teams.

Justin Hurst is the CTO, APAC for Extreme Networks, where he is responsible for guiding the technical vision for the Extreme platform in the APAC region. His key focus areas are enabling digital transformation, IT modernization, and innovation through design. By working closely with the Office of the CTO and Product teams, he helps customers and partners reach better outcomes, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

He brings over twenty years of experience in a broad range of technology roles, including IT operations, architecture, education, and sales.

Justin is a frequent keynote speaker, and has presented worldwide on transformative technological change and embracing disruption. He is based in Tokyo, Japan.

Josh Jacob is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in sales leadership across prominent technology firms. Currently serving as the Director of Services Sales APAC at Extreme Networks, he drives the Services Sales business and strategy for the Asia-Pacific region. He has a robust background in sales, spanning over 30 years, during which he has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing customer experiences, fostering strategic partnerships, and creating collaborative environments.

At Extreme, Josh is pivotal in steering Services revenue growth, leveraging his extensive experience to deliver value and drive business outcomes through collaborative efforts with customers and partners. His previous roles in leading organizations such as Netapp, Cisco Systems, and SAS have equipped him with diverse market experience across IT hardware, software (including SaaS), and B2B services sales. His expertise extends to emerging sectors like Blockchain, NFTs, and DeFi, where he has effectively applied his knowledge to drive innovation and growth.

Throughout his career, Josh has earned a reputation for transformative leadership, consistently achieving remarkable revenue growth ranging from over 100% to 350% in various organizations. Beyond his professional achievements, he is actively involved in community service, dedicating his free time to making a positive impact. His contributions have been recognized with the prestigious 15-year Silver Community Service Award by the People's Association, underscoring his commitment to community welfare.

Dr. Cindy Joffrion is the Senior Director of Grant Operations for Extreme Networks. In her role, Dr. Joffrion works with our public sector customers to secure funding for technology purchases. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Dr. Joffrion has established herself as a leading authority in grant acquisition, having helped organizations bring in an impressive total of more than $294 million in grant funds.

Beyond her work with organizations to complete grant proposals, Dr. Joffrion has also contributed to the field as a Federal Grant reviewer for the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration and the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Joffrion is not only recognized for her practical contributions but also for her written work. She has authored several other publications on funding acquisition, sharing her insights and strategies with a broad audience.

Ed Koehler has been in the communications and networking industry for20+ years. Ten of those years he spent as a Senior Technology Architect for R&D within the CTO division of Nortel. His area specialties are, IPv6,Multicast, Digital Identity and Network Security as well as Voice and Video communications and Data Science. He has several patents in these areas. Ed joined with Extreme (via Avaya) in August of 2010 as a Senior Data Solutions Architect specializing in Virtualized Data Centers and associated technologies including compute and storage. Currently, he is serving this role at the Global geography level as a Distinguished Principal Engineer. He is an IEEE member and was instrumental in the development of some of the core technology used in IEEE 802.1aq “Shortest Path Bridging”.

Rekha Krishna serves as Senior Director of Product Management at Extreme Networks, bringing over 20 years of expertise in networking and security. She leads the Security Product Management team, driving AI-powered security transformation and shaping the future of secure networking.

Her leadership blends technical proficiency with inclusive collaboration, positioning her as a catalyst for innovation across product development, strategic direction, and company culture. Rekha specializes in defining product strategy, vision, and roadmaps, helping organizations achieve technology milestones through deep expertise in market analysis, business systems, and software development.

Peter Lam is the VP, Deputy General Counsel at Extreme Networks. He and his team are responsible for overseeing IP litigation, managing patent and trademark portfolios, and driving global IP strategy. Peter also leads our employee resource group for Asian and Pacific Islander employees – API, in addition to his role on our legal team. Peter has over 24 years of experience as an intellectual property professional and has practiced in a wide range of areas, including IP portfolio development and strategy, IP monetization & licensing, M&A, and IP disputes at several Silicon Valley tech companies. He served as Senior IP Counsel at General Electric for the digital industrial business of GE Power, often speaking about Big Data and data rights. Prior to GE, Peter served as Senior IP Counsel for numerous business units at Cisco Systems, as Senior IP Counsel for medical robotics startup Hansen Medical, and as lead IP Counsel for Siemens Medical Solutions, Ultrasound. Peter also spent many years at Intel, working initially as an integrated circuit designer and as a software developer, and later as a patent attorney. Peter received his J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Kendra is the Managing Editor of the Extreme Networks blog and resource center. She was previously a Vertical Solutions Marketing Co-Op while pursuing her degree in Communications with a minor in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.

Doug has joined Extreme as the Director of Product Management for healthcare. His role is tasked to mold future Extreme product direction to differentiate and drive growth in the healthcare vertical. His former role responsibilities at Henry Ford Health System included strategy, architecture, implementation and support for all enterprise networking infrastructure equipment including wired/wireless, cellular DAS, location services, spectrum management, route/switch and LAN/WAN across hundreds of medical facilities. He holds an Executive MBA in healthcare leadership and has recently achieved fellow status with the HIMSS organization. Doug is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, sailing and scuba diving.

Natasha McNulty is a Senior Content Strategist for Extreme Networks specializing in K-12 education, higher education, and retail. Captivated by connections of any kind, she strives to uncover the human side of every story. Although she started in business reporting, her career has kept her rooted in advanced technology.

Over the years she has written about everything from the birth of the QR code and video conferencing to remote working and virtual reality. These days she’s focused on uncovering new ways for better outcomes in education and retail. When she’s not writing about exciting new tech trends or being a mother to her three children, she finds peace in nature by hiking and running in the Canadian outdoors with her extra-loud hound, Tommy.

Tim joined Extreme Networks 3 years ago as an iPam, then became a VSAM and now is now an Inside Sales Distribution Manager covering teams in the U.K., Southern Europe, and META. He took over the role of Pride Alliance ERG leader earlier on this year and enjoys engaging with some great people around the world for a joint cause. Tim loves learning about different cultures and languages and traveling. Fun fact, Tim once stole the show in a Turkish pop music clip a few years ago.

Yury Ostrovsky is a Sr. Product Manager in the Extreme Alliance. Yury joined Extreme over sixteen years ago as a wireless support engineer, then transitioned to professional services, and then to Corporate System Engineering field, helping sales teams with technical solutions all over the globe. A few years ago Yury moved to the Product Management team. Yury has CWNE status, so he is always happy to help people who started their journey in the enterprise networking world.

Cammy is a Senior Content Marketing Specialist at Extreme Networks, leveraging her expertise to craft thought leadership and engaging content. Her passion for marketing led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Endicott College's Gerrish School of Business. Cammy's journey with Extreme Networks began in January 2021 when she joined the company as an intern on the content team. With her creativity and dedication, she quickly progressed to her current role, where she continues to make a significant impact in driving the brand's messaging and success.

As the Senior Vice President of Global Channel Sales at Extreme Networks, Scott Peterson is responsible for our partner go-to-market strategies along with driving growth for our global channel program. Scott has over 20 years of experience in technology sales having previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at Mitel and holding various roles at Verizon over a 15 year period. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado, a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Iowa.

Lorna Pierno is a global award-winning and innovative marketing professional at Extreme Networks, the leader in cloud-networking. Previously, Lorna worked as director, corporate communications at Aerohive Networks where she helped accelerate share-of-voice and director of marketing programs at Xirrus where she was integral in taking the company from ground-up through strategic and creative awareness programs and implementing proven sales enablement capabilities. Lorna earned her B.A. in Marketing from California State University, Northridge.

Andrea is a Global Channel Marketing and Programs Specialist. Before moving to the channel marketing team, Andrea was a content marketing specialist at Extreme Networks.  

Andrea has previously worked in the Social Media space at various companies in Colombia, where she is originally from. She has a bachelor's degree in Marketing and is currently pursuing a Masters in Science in Marketing with a concentration in Digital Marketing at Southern New Hampshire University.

Adam Riglian is the Director of Corporate Communications at Extreme Networks.

Rob is a success-driven professional, with 20+ years of experience in sales, sales operations, channels, finance, services, customer success, business process, building teams, strategic planning, implementation, and customer relations. At Extreme, he leads the Global Service Sales team. He is focused on recurring revenue tied to maintenance services and subscription services (SAAS) while driving customer success and satisfaction.

Jaychele Nicole Schenck is a DEI & Philanthropy Intern at Extreme Networks, where she focuses on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. She started working at the company in February 2023. Jaychele is currently pursuing a double major in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Public Relations at Bentley University, with a goal to drive positive change in the DEI space.

Daniel is a Principal Architect for the Office of the CTO at Extreme Networks. His areas of expertise include: Networking/Fabrics/OpenFlow/NAC/Extreme Connect/XMC/XIQ, Coding (Java, Python, XML/XSL), Web Technologies (ExtJS, JavaScript), API Framework (Swagger/OpenAPI, SOAP), MessageBus Tech (RabbitMQ, NATS), Databases SQL/DB, Build Environments (Maven, Jenkins, GitHub), Basic 2D/3D Engine knowledge (VR/AR, Unity3D/OpenGL), Hardware Prototyping Platforms (Arduino, Raspberry)

After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Jimmy he spent 10 years playing in the MLB and in the KBO. After leaving baseball, he held roles in building business development teams, sales account management, and solutions marketing. Recently, Jimmy led the company-wide messaging for Sports and Entertainment and Hospitality verticals at Mitel. At Extreme, Jimmy is responsible for our sports and entertainment go-to-market strategies and building key marketing relationships.

Danny Seymour is a Content Producer on the Elevate Team in Extreme’s Product Organization and a native of Port Elgin, Ontario. He began working in tech by taking what most would consider to be an unconventional path. His first passion in life was figure skating. Danny represented Canada on the international stage as a competitive ice dancer for eight years and ended his skating career in 2016.

After retiring from competition, he moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he coached figure skating full-time and went to broadcasting school. He worked as a reporter and video journalist for Global News Okanagan during the summer of 2019 and covered a variety of stories from live breaking news to national news features.

After a brief stint as a journalist, he obtained his Bachelor of the Arts in Communications and Media Studies which led him to pursue a career opportunity as a Content Producer at Extreme.

Danny currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with his dog Rosie.

David Stihler is the Director of Data Privacy at Extreme Networks. He is responsible for leading Extreme’s global data privacy program, advising on international privacy and data protection laws, and supporting the business on privacy‑by‑design, risk management, and regulatory compliance. David has over 20 years’ experience in law, with more than a decade focused on data privacy and data protection. His work spans global privacy frameworks, cross‑border data transfers, vendor and customer contracting, incident response, and privacy governance in complex multinational environments. He advises on navigating evolving regulatory regimes including GDPR, US state privacy laws, and emerging global data protection frameworks, while translating legal requirements into practical, business‑ready solutions.

Philip Swain is the Chief Information Security Officer. He is responsible for implementing and leading the information security strategies for the global enterprise with nearly 3,000 employees spanning 80 countries.

He brings more than 20 years of experience solving problems and facilitating organizational change across international teams that address cybersecurity, InfoSec risk, compliance, and infrastructure management. Prior to joining Extreme, Philip worked at electrical manufacturing company, ABB, for over 10 years, most recently serving as the Global Security Portfolios Manager.

Cristina Tate is a Senior Vice President of Finance and a leader in the Women in Networking (WIN) Alliance, an employee resource group that brings women and allies together to network, learn, and support each other.

Ray Teske is an APAC business leader at Extreme Networks who has been based in Thailand for over 35 years. He has extensive experience in sales leadership, partner development, channel strategy, and customer success, helping organizations across the Asia-Pacific region modernize their networks and accelerate business outcomes.

Natalia Vianden has over 17 years’ experience in Channel Account management, developing strategic channel partners, business development, experience in channel marketing and in designing and launching Channel Partner Programs for Extreme Networks. In 2003, she undertook a Channel Sales executive role covering DACH and High Growth Markets, where she built a proven track record in channel account management, business development and channel program management. Vianden took on the responsibility to develop one of Extreme Networks’ strategic channel and alliance partners in EMEA, Avaya, in 2005 and was subsequently appointed in 2011 to Channel Director of Northern, Central and Southeast Europe (NCSE). In this role she held responsibility for indirect business as well as for partner & distribution acquisition and management. In 2012 Vianden moved into a global channel role, leading the integration of the Extreme Networks and Enterasys Partner Programs, which was launched in July 2014 - followed by further integrations with Zebra, Brocade and Avaya Partner Program transitions during 2016 and today. As Global Director of Channel Programs, she is now heading a global partner programs team at Extreme Networks that has recently launched a new unified global partner program for the new Extreme Partner Network.

SarahJane is a Distribution Account Executive at Extreme Networks. Prior to entering this role SarahJane held a variety of roles at Extreme. She has been with Extreme Networks since February 2014. SarahJane earned her MBA and Bachelor of Arts degree from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at UNH with a focus in digital marketing and media studies.

Presently residing with his family in Dallas, Texas, he not only thrives within his career but also revels in an active lifestyle, partaking in the endeavors of the local charity cycling club.

With nearly a decade of experience spanning corporate communications and digital, content, and industry marketing, Lisa currently oversees all of Extreme's corporate social media accounts and supports the vast majority of our content and communications efforts. Lisa is a problem solver who collaborates with her teammates and leans into creative ideas. A proud Umass Lowell River Hawk, Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Management and Marketing and her Master of Business Administration from the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell ('16 & '17).

As Regional Sales Director of Extreme Networks K.K., Yokoyama oversees sales activities in the Japan market. He is responsible for leading the company's overall business in Japan, including executing sales strategies, customer engagement and business growth, expanding the partner ecosystem, and raising awareness of Extreme Networks' next-generation network solutions. Yokoyama has nearly 20 years of experience in the network marketing industry. Most recently, he served as Regional Vice President at Tanium Japan, where he drove new customer acquisition and contributed to the company's business growth in Japan. Prior to that, he worked at Cisco Systems Japan, where he was responsible for launching new services and developing new customers in various markets, including the telecommunications, public sector, and private sector. Current position since June 2023. Graduated from the Department of Political Science, School of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University.
