Every summer, baseball fans across the country gather to celebrate the best the sport has to offer during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week—an event packed with excitement, competition, and unforgettable moments. This year, Extreme Networks proudly stepped up to the plate as the Official Wi-Fi Solutions Provider of MLB for the fourth consecutive year, helping fans, players, and coaches connect both on and off the field. But our commitment to connection goes far beyond technology.

In partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA), we had the privilege of hosting a special youth clinic at Newton High School, bringing together aspiring athletes, MLB legends, and a community dedicated to inspiring the next generation.

Where experience meets aspiration

The MLBPAA Youth Clinic, held during MLB All-Star Week, was more than just a series of drills and batting practice. It was a collaboration powered by Extreme Networks and the MLBPAA, designed to give young baseball and softball players a memorable, hands-on learning experience. Former Major League Baseball players took to the field not only as instructors, but as mentors—sharing their expertise, stories, and love of the game. Through small group sessions and individualized coaching, participants learned essential baseball and softball skills while also soaking in invaluable advice from those who have competed at the highest level.

Instilling life skills that last

While the focus was on improving athletic performance, the takeaways from the clinic stretched far beyond the diamond. Every drill and team huddle reinforced the key values that define both sports and life: resilience, teamwork, and leadership. The instructors emphasized the importance of bouncing back from setbacks, communicating effectively, and supporting one another, both on and off the field.

"The reason I wanted to get involved with this camp is that I myself was a young, aspiring baseball player and it is a great opportunity to give back and help young baseball players pursue their dreams of becoming MLB players."
– Brian Barton
former leftfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves
"I taught the kids how to run the bases properly and the little things for life, like how to say ‘yes sir’ or ‘no ma’am,’ and have respect for the game and their dreams."
– Chuck McElroy
former relief pitcher for the Colorado Rockies and several other teams

Connecting communities

Extreme Networks was thrilled to be on site throughout All-Star Week, not only powering seamless wireless experiences but also hosting additional activities such as Wi-Fi Coaching and a Gaming Zone. These initiatives showcased our commitment to building connections—between people, communities, and dreams.

As the cheers faded and the final pitches were thrown, the legacy of the MLBPAA Youth Clinic lived on in the hearts of the participants. Through sport, mentorship, and technology, we’re helping to shape a brighter future—one connection at a time.
