Extreme Networks Extends Commitment to Sustainability with Highest Number of Energy Star-Certified Network Switches

With 36 of its Universal Switches now ENERGY STAR® certified to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard, Extreme Networks has reaffirmed its commitment to both internal sustainability goals and helping customers reduce their own carbon footprints. Extreme now has the highest number of certified products under Large Network Equipment.

Networking solutions, including network switches, are often running 24/7 to maintain critical services, consuming power even when not actively in use. In environments like federal government departments, hospitals, and data centers that rely heavily on networking equipment and must comply with strict sustainability regulations, ENERGY STAR-certified equipment can make a significant difference in reducing energy consumption and lowering electricity bills.

Extreme’s ENERGY STAR-Certified switches deliver:

• Efficient Power Supplies (Extreme listed products exceed these requirements meeting the 80 PLUS Platinum rating)
• Remote Port Administration
• Adaptive Active Cooling and Variable-Speed Fan Control
• Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)

During the ENERGY STAR certification process, all switches and power supplies were independently tested to validate they meet the strict requirements of the standard.

In addition to Extreme’s 36 ENERGY STAR-certified Universal Switches, the power supplies for Extreme’s Universal Switches including the 7520, 7720, 5720, 5520, 5420, and 4120 Series are 80 PLUS Platinum certified. This voluntary certification program is designed to further promote energy efficiency and is another extension of Extreme’s efforts in reducing its overall carbon footprint. These power supplies operate at more than 90% efficiency across a wide range of loads, making our switches some of the most energy-efficient on the market.
