“We operate approximately 400 wireless access points across the hospital. Doctors use mobile applications, patient monitoring depends on wireless connectivity, and IoT devices, including emergency Blue Code systems, operate over Wi-Fi. In emergencies, Wi-Fi-connected DECT phones instantly alert response teams. This reliability is critical.”

Erdem Yavuz

System, Infrastructure, and Network Management Group Manager, Memorial Hospital Group

Memorial Göztepe Hospital was designed as a fully digital, paperless healthcare environment. Its legacy Huawei network, however, could no longer deliver the wireless experience required to support increasingly mobile clinicians, connected medical devices, and digital applications.

Doctors and nurses needed reliable access to patient information wherever care was delivered. At the same time, the network needed to support mission-critical systems, high-bandwidth radiology imaging, medical IoT, emergency response, and patient-facing digital services.

“Göztepe is our newest and most technologically advanced hospital. We designed it to deliver healthcare services using advanced technology and carefully selected experienced doctors and professors,"
said Yavuz of Göztepe's status as a state-of-the-art medical hub.

Memorial needed a network that could:

Key Challenges and Requirements:

Deliver a more reliable wireless experience.

Support mobile clinical workflows and connected medical devices.

Securely segment clinical, administrative, guest, and IoT traffic.

Support high-bandwidth applications without affecting other hospital services.

Simplify network operations and troubleshooting.

Provide a scalable foundation for future hospital growth.

Why Extreme?

Aruba was the primary competitor during the evaluation. Extreme differentiated itself by offering more than a wireless infrastructure replacement.

With an established relationship and successful deployments across Memorial Health Group, Extreme proposed an end-to-end wired and wireless architecture centered on Extreme Fabric.

Aruba was the primary competitor during the evaluation. Extreme differentiated itself by offering more than a wireless infrastructure replacement centered around its powerful Fabric capabilities—demonstrating how Fabric could simplify network operations, provide secure segmentation across clinical and non-clinical environments, and create a scalable foundation for future hospital expansion.

The approach provided Memorial with:

A significantly improved wireless experience over the existing Huawei environment

Automated, secure network segmentation without adding operational complexity

Centralized visibility and management through Site Engine

A single, integrated architecture for mission-critical wired and wireless connectivity

A proven technology partner with experience across multiple Memorial hospitals

The result was a scalable network foundation designed to support both the hospital's immediate digital requirements and future expansion.

The Solution: Connecting and Securing Digital Care

Memorial Göztepe deployed Extreme enterprise wired and wireless infrastructure across its 300-bed hospital, including approximately 400 wireless access points supporting clinical departments, operating rooms, imaging systems, administrative networks, and connected medical technologies.

Extreme Fabric enables secure, automated network segmentation across:

Clinical applications

Medical IoT devices

Radiology systems

Guest access

Administrative services

ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine provides centralized monitoring, configuration, visibility, and lifecycle management to help simplify day-to-day network operations.

Together, the architecture supports mission-critical applications including electronic medical records, mobile clinical workflows, patient monitoring, Blue Code emergency response, radiology imaging, and QR-based patient services.

“Radiology systems require high bandwidth to transfer large imaging files. Using Extreme Fabric, we segment systems to ensure both security and performance.”
- Erdem Yavuz, System, Infrastructure, and Network Management Group Manager, Memorial Hospital Group

The Result: A More Reliable Foundation for Digital Healthcare

Replacing the legacy Huawei infrastructure with Extreme's Fabric-enabled architecture gave Memorial Göztepe a more reliable, intelligent network designed to support its digital healthcare strategy.

Today:

Doctors and nurses access patient records from tablets and mobile devices throughout the hospital.

Approximately 400 access points provide reliable wireless connectivity across the facility.

Extreme Fabric securely segments clinical, IoT, guest, and administrative networks.

Radiology imaging and other high-bandwidth applications operate without impacting other critical hospital services.

Blue Code emergency notification systems and patient monitoring rely on resilient, highly available connectivity.

ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine provides centralized visibility to simplify network administration and troubleshooting.

The result is a secure, scalable digital foundation that helps Memorial Göztepe connect clinicians, patients, medical technologies, and critical healthcare applications—supporting a more reliable digital experience today and future growth tomorrow.
