See Extreme Platform ONE™ in Action
Take a TourAs part of Extreme Networks’ commitment to accelerating industry innovation and promoting standards that improve customer experiences, Extreme has joined the Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) and the Linux Foundation. With these memberships, Extreme will continue to help advance industry standards and simplify customer experiences in multivendor, AI-powered network environments.
Ethernet has become an increasingly critical technology due to its wide ecosystem and the fact that it has been so widely deployed over its long existence. However, growing demands on the network have caused concerns that traditional network interconnects cannot provide the required performance, scale, and bandwidth to keep up with new needs like supporting AI workloads. The Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) was formed by a group of vendors and operators that wanted to address this concern by adding new features and capabilities to the known and proven Ethernet technology specification.
With the UEC working to increase Ethernet speeds to 400G and 800G per second, it is now the technology of choice for AI workloads used in scale-out data center networks. As organizations look to support bandwidth-heavy AI workloads, Ultra Ethernet, a next-generation, open Ethernet-based communication standard developed by the UEC, is designed to meet the performance, scalability, and interoperability of AI and HPC high performance compute workloads.
As Extreme continues to innovate and move the industry forward with leading solutions like Extreme Platform ONE™, its UEC membership will enable it to support open, interoperable standards for Ethernet so customers can be more agile and operate seamlessly in AI-powered multivendor environments.
The Linux Foundation is a key industry group supporting the development of shared technology resources and accelerating innovation through open-source leadership and collaborative projects. Extreme has joined this group as part of its continued commitment to supporting initiatives that give customers greater freedom of choice, accelerate innovation, and reduce barriers to adoption of new technologies like AI.
As a member of both the Linux Foundation and the UEC, Extreme is positioned at the intersection of open-source software innovation and next-generation networking standards. We will continue to drive innovation across the network from the data center to the edge and will accelerate the advancement of the networking industry by fostering a unified ecosystem that meets the growing demands of AI and data intensive workloads.
