Watch the ReplaysWhen we set out to bring Bond’s Extreme Journey—a 10,000-mile bike ride to all 30 NFL stadiums, led by world-record-holding cyclist Bond Almand—to life, one thing was clear from the start: a journey of this magnitude doesn't come together without the right partners.
It can’t be just any bike to get a rider through this incredible 60-plus day sprint from Miami to Seattle. We needed a bike worthy of the mission. And when it comes to bikes, there was only one choice: Trek.
Over the course of the past few months, Trek has been an incredible partner in getting this trip off the ground. In support of Bond and Extreme Networks, they have built a custom Trek Project One bike and a one-of-a-kind attachment to carry the football for the length of the journey. In addition, Trek has graciously supported our charitable mission and allowed this unique bike to be auctioned off at the end of the journey. That's the kind of partner Trek is: not just showing up, but going all-in.
Every day at Extreme, we go to extremes for our customers. It's not just a tagline; it’s a real commitment, one that I have personally made many times over my years here in leadership roles. We build networks that power some of the most demanding environments in the world, from NFL stadiums on game day to K-12 schools serving thousands of students at once. At Extreme, we don't settle for "good enough;" we pursue excellence in everything we do.
When I first encountered Trek's Project One program, I recognized that same spirit immediately.
Project One is the cycling world's equivalent of “going to extremes” on craftsmanship and quality. Every Project One bike is hand-painted and hand-built, one by one, by master artists and builders at Trek's global headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin. The result is something that is as much a work of art as it is an instrument of performance.
Trek takes technologically advanced, expertly engineered frames and elevates them through something no machine can replicate: human touch. The finest components in the industry, thousands of color options, and custom paint schemes that tell a story. Every detail, down to crank arm length and cockpit configuration, dialed in to the individual rider. That is what uncompromising commitment to the customer looks like in the world of cycling.
Extreme Networks recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Trek celebrated its 50th. Between us, we carry eight decades of institutional knowledge about what it means to build something exceptional, earn the trust of customers who demand the best, and refuse to rest on past success.
The parallels run deep. Both of us serve customers who can't afford failure: enterprise IT teams who need their networks to perform when it matters most, and riders who need their equipment to hold up across 10,000 miles of open road. Both of us have built our reputations not on marketing promises, but on the actual quality of what we deliver. And both of us believe that excellence is not a destination but a standard you recommit to every single day.
Those shared values are why this partnership feels so natural. We didn't need to convince each other of much. When you spend decades building a culture of quality, you recognize it when you see it in someone else.
I want to take a moment to say something directly to the Trek team: thank you.
Thank you for believing in this journey and for putting your name, your craft, and your commitment behind a mission that is bigger than either of our companies, one that connects communities, inspires youth, and raises funds for causes that matter.
The fact that the custom Trek Project One bike Bond rides across America will be auctioned off in support of our charitable mission reflects who Trek is as a company and as a partner.
We go to extremes for our customers. Trek goes to extremes for theirs. Together, we're going to some pretty extraordinary places. Follow Bond’s Extreme Journey and join the journey as it rolls through a community near you.
