The Extreme AP3020W wireless access point delivers a new generation of Wi‑Fi 7 wall‑plate connectivity, enabling hospitality, K–12, higher education, and multi‑dwelling environments to provide faster, more reliable in‑room wireless experiences. Its compact, wall‑plate design allows organizations to modernize connectivity without altering room layouts, while providing the high capacity and low latency essential for today’s learning, guest experience, and digital service applications. This gives business leaders the ability to support more devices, improve operational efficiency, and enhance overall user satisfaction in every room.
Building on the proven foundation of Extreme’s wireless portfolio, the AP3020W extends key capabilities such as wired device support, integrated IoT connectivity, and strong in‑room RF performance—features already valued in guest rooms, residence halls, and classrooms. It maintains advanced security and segmentation options including Private Client Groups, role‑based access, and on‑device firewalls, helping organizations reduce risk, protect user privacy, and maintain consistent service quality across high‑density deployments. These features translate into tangible business outcomes: simplified operations, reduced troubleshooting time, and improved end‑user trust.
With Extreme Platform ONE™ management, enterprises gain centralized visibility, automated optimization, and effortless scale across distributed properties. This unified cloud‑driven approach allows IT teams to deploy faster, manage less manually, and maintain predictable performance—resulting in lower operational costs and more consistent guest, student, and staff experiences.
The AP3020W can be flexibly managed by Extreme Platform ONE, ExtremeCloud IQ, and ExtremeCloud IQ Controller from the cloud or on premises.
Extreme Platform ONE™ is the Extreme Networks enterprise connectivity platform that integrates networking and security with AI into one powerful and radically simplified experience and licensing model. It supports NetOps, SecOps, and business teams with built-in automation and enables organizations to regain control, unlock innovation, and boost productivity through:
Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) introduces benefits across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands with reduced latency and jitter for time-sensitive networking applications. Wi-Fi 7 capabilities such as 320 MHz channels, 4K-QAM, and Multi-link Operation (MLO) helps enable superior speeds and high-density performance. The 6 GHz** band enables improved quality of service (QoS) in dense environments, new applications and use cases, and an improved user experience.
**6 GHz operation is country dependent.
To support both IoT and guest engagement services, the AP3020W integrates Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) to connect with IoT and wireless devices to engage loyalty customers. Enterprises can use API-driven applications to send advertisements directly to shoppers, guests, and conference attendees. This makes it ideal for businesses to advertise their app download pages, captive portals, or site-specific information.
Versatile in-room device delivering connectivity across multiple wired and wireless mediums including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, BLE, and Zigbee. Securely connect all your devices from computers to cameras and game consoles through one convenient access solution.
The AP3020W is built with Extreme's Universal Hardware technology, allowing for multiple deployment use cases through a simple change of the software or feature set. This technology allows the user to choose between operating systems tailored to work with cloud- or controller-based management. The desired persona can be selected at startup or changed later. Universal hardware platforms increase flexibility and reduce obsolescence by allowing customers to gradually adopt new technologies without the need for a rip-and-replace approach to their hardware.
Offered with a Universal World SKU AP, the AP3020W allows organizations to order one model for any region where Extreme Networks products are sold, replacing the problem of country-specific models.
The AP3020W delivers the highest level of security services, beginning with support for the latest Wi-Fi Alliance WPA3 security certifications. It acts as an enforcement point for Extreme Platform ONE Security—the industry's most complete network access security solution. Extreme Platform ONE Security provides automated security policy enforcement and manages SSIDs to enforce policies on the AP3020W. Additionally, the AP supports a stateful L2-L7 DPI firewall for context-based access security, private pre-share key (PPSK), a location analytics sensor, and much more.
The AP3020W is a dual radio access point and can transmit with two data radios: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz or 5 GHz and 6 GHz. Software programmable radios provide the ability to manage radios to provide the highest level of client performance.
In conjunction with Extreme centralized management software, cloud or on premises, the AP3020W provides a rich set of data displayed via widgets, representing unlimited historical data or a combination of historical and current data. This provides context- specific granularity with perspective views for locations, network, APs, individual client devices, as well as policy roles. In each context, administrators can make a widget library.
The AP3020W access point is designed to support the 6 GHz spectrum with Low Power Indoor (LPI) as well as standard power for the USA and Canada. To enable standard power support, this AP requires additional deployment steps to obtain AFC (Automated Frequency Coordination) authorization —like external geolocation input and anchor-based location support. To implement 6 GHz with standard power safely and quickly, please refer to the Indoor Access Point 6GHz Standard Power Deployment Guide documentation for more detailed information.
