From Accelerating Action to Keeping Momentum

Even if you love what you do, few can truly say they are part of a team that embodies values worth standing for. I count myself among the fortunate ones. Every day, I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders who don’t just talk about change but actively push for it. Our board members, E-team, executive sponsors, and ERG leaders are among the first to raise their voices for action, setting a powerful example for us all at Extreme Networks.

As Chair of the Women in Networking (WIN) Alliance, I am deeply honored to witness some of the most talented people in our company continually surpass their own achievements when it comes to gender equality. Year after year, they raise the bar—not just in their professional pursuits but in their commitment to recognizing, accelerating, and resolving the challenges women face in our industry and across society.

Celebrating Women’s History Month at Extreme Networks

Celebrating Women’s History Month in March is an important acknowledgment of not only the contributions of women and the progress we have made but also the vision of an equitable future. But true progress is not achieved in a 30-day sprint. The theme of "Accelerating Action" is something we live every day. The celebrations, discussions, and learning opportunities throughout this month—including on-site events, online webinars, and global workshops—are the culmination of our daily and ongoing efforts to create the change we want to see.

A central focus of our programming was holistic support for the women and allies of Extreme Networks, particularly in career development, health, and well-being. To support professional growth, we introduced a curated curriculum centered on leadership and inclusion. A highlight was our luminary career development workshop, which provided invaluable lessons on articulating accomplishments, building a strong reputation, maintaining an updated resume, and fostering meaningful relationships. Through these initiatives, we reinforced the importance of having a strong, supportive network.

Internal health and wellness webinar

On the health and well-being front, we facilitated a webinar that addressed crucial topics such as infertility, perimenopause, menopause, stress management, and supporting loved ones. In collaboration with our benefits team, we also launched a well-being challenge, rewarding participants who engaged in at least five events ranging from fitness sessions to meditation and cooking demonstrations. These efforts underscored our commitment to supporting women's health—both in and outside of the workplace.

Fireside chat with the women of the Extreme Networks board

One of the most profound moments of this month was an open and candid fireside chat with our two women board members, Kathleen Holmgren and Ingrid Burton. They generously shared their personal experiences, shedding light on the challenges they faced early in their careers and the resilience it took to overcome them. Their stories emphasized the importance of managerial courage, executive presence, effective communication, and the indispensable role of mentors and sponsors in career growth. They also spoke about the realities of balancing career and family, urging continued advocacy for gender equity, particularly in STEM fields.

Employee resource groups at Extreme Networks

Our ERG groups continue to evolve in innovative ways, fostering collaboration and strengthening our collective impact. One of the most rewarding aspects this year was the increase in cross-ERG collaboration. It was heartening to see recognition not just for the groups we belong to but for others that are equally vital to our shared mission.

Speaking of which, another highlight was a special edition of our monthly movie club, hosted in collaboration with Black at Extreme (BEX) and the Veterans Council. We discussed The Six Triple Eight, drawing powerful parallels between the film's themes of resilience, adversity, and leadership and the challenges women continue to navigate today. These conversations reinforced the necessity of innovation, problem-solving, and adaptability in the workplace.

Leading the WIN Alliance team fills me with immense pride. Their unwavering dedication to advancing and empowering women is the driving force behind our success. Their passion, commitment, and relentless pursuit of progress inspire me every day.

Accelerating Action: Women’s History Month 2025

"Accelerating Action" is not just a theme; it is a call to each of us to keep the momentum alive. Every thought counts. Every action matters. I urge you to find every opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, understand the challenges they face, and learn from their journeys.

Gender equity benefits us all, even those who may believe they are unaffected.

As a society, we may not yet be where we aspire to be, but if we continue to move forward with purpose and pride, I have no doubt—we’ll get there together!
