MSK Group is Ready for Tomorrow With Modernized Network

MSK Group is a family-owned business based in Ylihärmä, Finland. For more than 70 years, it has been manufacturing high-quality plastic components, mobile machinery, and smart cabins for a range of industries, including construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, and material handling. It has recently expanded its operations through the acquisition of new production plants and warehouses in Germany and Slovakia. It now has more than 800 employees across its organization, including six subsidiaries, operating 60,000 square meters of factory floors across Europe and delivering 10 million parts annually.

MSK Group depends on its network to support its day-to-day operations across its various workspaces, from factory floors to offices to outdoor areas. At the same time, organic growth and acquisitions create challenges for IT teams tasked with managing network infrastructure and ensuring users and devices are able to connect consistently and reliably. The company sought to modernize its network to create a consistent infrastructure across it organization to improve efficiency and performance and maintain consistency. It started by replacing some its Cisco and HP switches with Extreme hardware and, over several years, has continued to replace its legacy infrastructure with new, modern Extreme switches and access points.

“The biggest priority for us is to have a reliable network that works everywhere, no matter where you roam at the site. It’s basically all that matters and we have achieved that and more.”

Results

Ease of Management

  • ExtremeCloudIQ extends cloud network management to not only Extreme devices, but to other third-party and non-cloud native devices still part of the network.
  • Wi-Fi 6 features combined with AI and ML capabilities allow IT team to efficiently manage and troubleshoot the network efficiently, allowing the team to focus on other needs.
  • Extreme’s cloud-managed network prepares MSK Group for a full transition to a cloud-driven business.

Ease of Implementation

  • The flexibility of Extreme’s hardware and software solutions has allowed MSK Group to modernize its network at its own pace, rather than having to do a costly complete rip and replace at one time.
  • Onboarding new hardware, implementing new network policies, and upgrading processes was a simple process using ExtremeCloud IQ and just a smartphone.
  • MSK Group’s IT team was able to deploy its new Wi-Fi network on its own with very little help needed.

Enhanced Connectivity

  • Extreme’s network and access points deliver consistent connectivity across the entire organization, including the demanding industrial and outdoor environments MSK Group experiences.
  • Reliability has improved, the IT team no longer has to worry about constantly rebooting access points to troubleshoot connectivity problems.
  • Improved coverage across MSK Group facilities with more efficient and productive digital work environments.

“ExtremeCloud IQ is a clear upgrade from the previous solution. It's very simple to onboard the access points, and create new network policies using nothing more than a smartphone.”

“With our previous network, APs required rebooting on a regular basis. That’s not the case anymore. Also, our own IT team in Finland managed to deploy the wireless network by ourselves.”

"First and foremost, we need our networks to be reliable. It is easier to maintain and make sure that all our operations run without problems if we can integrate and harmonize our infrastructure. Extreme’s solutions have played a big part in modernizing our network.”
