Integrations
Schools today face ever increasing challenges with keeping
its students, faculty, and staff safe. Extreme Networks
and IPVideo Corporation are at the forefront of improving
student safety through technical integration of their market leading platforms. The integration of ExtremeCloud™ IQ
and the HALO IoT Smart Sensor platform enhances the
safety level of campuses. The HALO multi-sensor platform
detects vaping, chemical presence and collects environmental
information. HALO also has a full audio analysis of abnormal
noises including gunshot and key word detection to prevent
bullying. All sensors help improve student safety particularly
in areas of privacy where you cannot have a camera. *No
personal recording is taking place, maintaining privacy.
Extreme Networks provides the network connectivity, PoE
power, automated sensor on-boarding, and IoT protection,
through either an underlay or an overlay solution. The
integrated solution provides enterprise-grade, scalable, and
resilient network services with real-time alerting, analytics,
and location services to identify safety hotspots and
students, faculty, or staff at risk. Extreme’s location services
provide physical presence information on mobile devices
that are connected near “hotspots,” enabling security and
facilities personnel to quickly respond to health or security
threats. Location information can also be used to identify
areas of the student population that may require additional
training on safety and health-related issues.
Standard technologies can alert us to issues in an area, but
by the time someone is deployed to investigate, the
incident or issue or persons that caused the issue may
have vacated the area. In some cases, video can be
used to help identify people. However, video may not
be available or may not help. Extreme Networks utilizes
its Extreme Management Center™ to receive alerts
from the HALO system. Upon detecting an incident, the
Extreme Management Center receives notification of
an event, identifies that event (eg. vaping, chemical, or
audio), determines the area the event took place, collects
information from ExtremeCloud IQ of people and devices
in the concerned area, and alerts the proper personnel to
handle the situation based on the alert type.
