Ukraine’s Largest Internet Traffic Exchange Increases Network Capacity by 50 Times

Ukraine’s largest Internet traffic exchange (UA-IX) was founded in 2000 and was designed to provide maximum network connectivity for Ukrainian Internet service providers (ISPs), organizing an effective and efficient exchange point between them. Immense traffic growth stemming from video and social media over the past few years led to the conclusion that the performance of the existing switches had been exhausted and would not be fast enough for the future. The network required more powerful, next-generation 40GbE solutions to maintain performance and bandwidth headroom.

With the Extreme Networks BlackDiamond X8 and Summit X650 switches at the heart of the network, UA-IX was able to increase network capacity by 50 times and can gradually increase connections as needed.
