University Hospital in Europe Relies on Extreme Networks Solutions to Maximize Server Virtualization

Published 7 Jun 2016

Charité is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, with over 139,000 patients in 100 clinics across four main locations in Berlin. In economically challenging times, efficient and modern IT plays an increasingly important role in the hospital. Therefore, Charité decided to upgrade its IT systems. The fully digitized workflows and EMR processes of daily hospital operations increase the requirement for a highly available IT infrastructure and the data center fabric is the key element that makes this possible. At Charité this was achieved by using the Extreme Networks S-Series in the core and data center fabric.

Technology Needs
  • Support digitization of the entire medical process to create true electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Lower OPEX
  • Optimize virtualization, server usage and disaster recovery
  • Orchestrate data center operations and improve visibility and control

Additional benefits of the new network solution include:

  • Server Virtualization of 53%
  • Automatic VM provisioning
  • Reduced OPEX
  • Faster IT response
