As if there wasn’t enough excitement buzzing in the air with Extreme’s recent acquisition of Brocade’s SRA business, we have even more great news to share! Extreme Networks will be onsite at the annual Supercomputing Conference (SC17) from November 13th to November 16th.  That’s right: you can come stop by and meet the “New Extreme” at booth #519 next week!

Extreme is excited to be a sponsor of SCinet, the high-performance network built every year for Supercomputing with the primary mission of providing massive bandwidth for network research exhibitions & demonstrations.

At our booth #519, you can see Extreme’s demonstrations of the latest software-driven networking solutions that enable organizations to provide rewarding, connected experiences that enhance business outcomes and have some fun with our microcontroller giveaways and daily raffles. Our live demonstrations include:

  • Taking Network Automation to the Next Level
    • Shoot targets and kick off an orchestration workflow to learn how to extend a network automation platform and do things you never thought were possible. In other words- laser tag!
  • Leveraging Visibility to Drive DevOps and Troubleshoot
    • Witness how the SLX Insight Architecture with a Third Party VM delivers a familiar Linux-based platform embedded in the router to troubleshoot & automate the network.
  • Network Monitoring with Extreme Management Center
    • See how the Extreme Management Center leverages a single pane of glass to deliver granular insights and automated control over users, applications as well as Brocade, Avaya, and Extreme devices.

  • Utilizing Network Application Analytics
    • See how through a single pane of glass, the network architect can examine applications and traffic patterns to determine the root cause to direct resources for quick problem resolution.

Attendees of SC17 also get a chance to see Extreme technology in action in both the SCinet Network Operations Center, NASA Open Commons Consortium, and Sao Paulo State University booth!

  • SCinet Network Operations Center: Visit and see first-hand our SLX-9850 router powering the world’s fastest network.
  • NASA Open Commons Consortium booth #1653: Stop by to meet the High-End Computer Networking (HECN) team at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and watch their demo showing low cost, high speed disk-to-disk file transfers between Denver & Greenbelt, MD because of their Extreme Networks SLX 9240 switch at their SC17 booth & MLXe 100G modules at their data center at the Goddard Space Flight Center.
  • Sao Paulo State University booth #1491:  See how Extreme’s SLX and MLX switches are powering the connectivity to their live 100G SDN demo, connecting the booth to Florida International University and to South America’s AmLight research network.

Finally, Extreme’s very own software systems engineer and technology expert, Dmitri Zimine, will be presenting “Genomic Computations at Scale with Serverless and Docker Swarm” on Tuesday, November 14th from 4:30-5:00pm in the Exhibitor Forum, Room 501-502.

This talk is a story of bio-tech meeting DevOps to produce genomic computations, economically, and at scale. Dmitri is the co-founder of StackStorm, Inc. and has helped lead the first wave of operations automation in the industry. In the presentation, Dmitri demonstrates and describes the serverless solution built with Docker, Docker Swarm, StackStorm and other tools from the DevOps toolchain on AWS, and how this solution offers new take on creating and computing bio-informatic pipelines that can run at high scale and at optimal cost.

I can’t wait to see everyone at SC17 in the Mile-High City next week! If you are just as anxious as I am for the show, be on the lookout for our upcoming pre-show blogs to get a taste of what’s to come!
