Educause 2011: Controlling peer-to-peer traffic

The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requires universities and colleges to manage how content is shared across their networks. An increasing cost and risk to network operations is from the use of programs used to illegally share content on higher education networks. Enterasys is recognized as a leading provider of solutions that enables institutions to define how users share content within their networks to reduce operational costs and security risks associated with unauthorized peer-to-peer networks.
This demonstration at Edcause 2011 shows two different methods of controlling unauthorized use of peer-to-peer applications and the automated mitigation and advisements provided to the end-user during mitigation.
