2015 is here and many organizations are building plans for the upcoming year. Organizations everywhere face an increasingly digitized and dynamic environment transforming business and operational needs. Harvesting analytics from deployed IT systems has been named one of the top 3 goals for CIOs in 2015, whose IT department today must not only spend wisely, but find ways to get return on budgetary spend.

Business Intelligence is shifting from a nice-to-have luxury to become a fundamental technology that all businesses require. Access to analytics can drive intelligence and revenue for the business, helping it understand the behavior of users and applications and then provide opportunities to better understand customers and employees.  This can include measuring what services and applications users want and what they ignore, what Web pages and communication services are in constant demand, when and where transactions happen, and also to understand potential weakness or bottlenecks in the infrastructure that needs to be addressed.

In today’s experience economy there are no second chances. Analytics can provide a distinct competitive advantage furthering your business growth and success. In 2015, the demand for business intelligence will continue to grow. As I see it, three trends will emerge this year:

1. Good data leads the way

Rather than focusing on the multi-source world known as Big Data, a growing number of organizations will focus on single data source business intelligence. Not only does good data help to alleviate the strain put on compute power and resources, it also limits the need for a data scientist and advanced workforce resources.

2. Focus-first on experiences

Many organizations will push deeper into delivering excellent user experiences to drive deeper consumer loyalty, and ultimately increased revenue growth. Technology investment and decisions stem from this primary focus.

3. Mainstream adoption

Intelligence will shift from a niche perception into a requirement for creating positive business outcomes. The burden of requiring “data scientists” on staff will be alleviated by solutions that provide immediate, good data.
