Extreme Networks Specialist

The Extreme Networks® Specialist (ENS) certification represents a solid foundation of networking skills for individuals responsible for advanced configuring, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of Extreme Networks products. The pre-requisite for this certification is completion of the ENA certification.

ENS certified skills include:

  • Configure Extreme Networks advanced redundancy features.
  • Configure Extreme Networks advanced multicast routing features.
  • Configure Extreme Networks switches in complex routing environments.
  • Configure Extreme Networks switches advanced security features.
  • Configure Extreme Networks switches traffic engineering features.
  • Troubleshoot Extreme Networks switches for Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking problems.

ENS certification is valid for two years.

ENS Certification Preparation

In addition to completing your ENA certification, to prepare for the ENS exam, attend the following courses:

Taking the ENS Exam

The exam is administered by select Extreme Networks Authorized Training Partners and by Extreme Networks proctors.

Follow these steps to register for the Extreme Networks Specialist exam:

  • Direct your web browser to www.extremenetworks.com/go/training.htm.
  • Click on the Schedule & Registration tab.
  • Click on Extreme Networks Certification Exams for the current exam schedule.
  • From the list, select the course or exam, date, and location where you wish to take the course or exam and click on the provider listed in that row. You will be linked to the ATP site or the Extreme Networks registration form for registration.

Be sure to bring valid, government issued photo identification.

The ENS exam is a 4-hour hands-on exam is typically performed at one of the authorized test centers. The exam is comprised of four parts. One part consists of multiple choice questions. The other three parts consist of hands-on practical exams. Candidates must achieve a score of 75% to be certified. The price for this exam includes one attempt to successfully complete the exam.

Successful candidates receive an ENS certificate with a unique certification number immediately upon passing the exam.

Should you not successfully complete the exam, we recommend that you review course material and hands-on labs. You can retake the exam once you pay the additional fee.


Note: ENS-certified customers can bypass the Level 1 Technical Assistance Center (TAC) staff for software-related problems. Please request an escalation engineer when contacting Extreme Networks for support.
