Building secure, reliable and intelligent networks utilizing the advanced routing protocols supported within the Extreme Networks routing product family

Duration:3.0 Days
Training Method:Instructor Led Classroom
On-site Deliveries:Please contact your local Extreme Networks representative for special pricing.
Course Overview:Students will learn methods to properly configure and manage their advanced routing environments using the numerous network convergence, management, and redundancy functionality within the Extreme Networks routing product family. This knowledge will be reinforced through actual hands-on experience with networking equipment in a lab environment, where students will perform real world tasks configuring convergence and traffic management protocols, as well as implementing security and redundancy capabilities.
Who Should Attend:Network Managers, Architects, and Systems Integrators
Course Prerequisite:Due to the levl of intensity of this advanced course, Extreme Networks recommends that students should have previous hands-on experience with Extreme Networks routing protocols as well as having attended the Routing course prior to enrolling.
Course Objectives:Upon completion of this course, students will have gained the working knowledge to successfully configure and manage their routing implementation as well as take the Advanced Routing Specialist certification exam.
Course Agenda:
  • Routing technology high level overview, with hands-on lab reinforcement specific to Extreme Networks EOS and XOS based products. The module will cover pre-routing considerations and basics Layer 2/Layer 3 switch configuration on Extreme Switches; as well as configuration of OSPF and verification of OSPF operation
  • High level overview of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), reinforced by a hands-on lab involving configuration of the protocol, and verification of its operation on EOS and XOS based products.
  • Technology overview and hands-on configuration of Layer 3 tunneling, to include the implementation of GRE tunneling on EOS and XOS based products.
  • Introduction and hands-on lab reinforcement of Virtual Routing (VR) capabilities on EOS and XOS based products. The module will include a general overview of VR functionality, VR creation/configuration, and verification of VR operation.
  • Overview of MPLS (focused on the XOS product set). Content will be reinforced through hands-on labs. MPLS modules will cover label distribution using Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP), the deployment of Layer 2 VPNs using both LDP and RSVP for label distribution, and the deployment of Layer 3 VPNs using MPLS/BGP networking.
Recommended Next Course(s):Extreme Management Center Boot Camp, Extreme Policy
For Managers:Advanced Routing is targeted for those users that have an understanding of networking and routing fundamentals and now require a more detailed level of knowledge of operating (deploying, configuring and managing) their Extreme Networks routing devices. Ideal candidates for the course are Network Administrators or Systems Integration Specialist who are tasked with the responsibility of supporting your Extreme Networks domain.
